Preparation and properties of polyvinyl alcohol/N–succinyl chitosan/lincomycin composite antibacterial hydrogels for wound dressing

• Polyvinyl alcohol/ N –succinyl chitosan/lincomycin antibacterial hydrogels were prepared by the freezing/thrawing method. The swelling behavior, mechanical strength, activity and drug release systematically investigated. –Succinyl chitosan enhanced capacity strength. introducing of lincomycin improved with no cytotoxicity observed. Hydrogels are three-dimensional polymeric networks capable absorbing large amounts water or biological fluids properties resembling natural living tissues. Herein, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/ (NSCS)/lincomycin for wound dressing freezing/thawing method, then characterized FTIR, SEM, TGA. compression retention capacity, activity, results showed that introduction NSCS remarkably leading to maximum ratio 19.68 g/g in deionized water. optimal strength 0.75 MPa was achieved 30 % content.Additionally, incorporation brought a remarkable against both Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus . Specifically, 77.71 inhibited 75 ?g/mL lincomycin, while MTT assay demonstrated nontoxic nature composite hydrogels. In summary, this PVA/NSCS/lincomycin hydrogel promising potential dressing.
